I apologize for a long delay. I am really stressed with looking after my grandma. Now I'm full-time "nurse" and take charge of feeding and changing her diaper. I have to feed her food liquid and medicine through feed tube and must change her diaper two times day, morning and night before go to bed. Not only this, I have to clean and change the dressing on her bedsores and also bathe her with wet cloth since she is immobile. She is suffering from diabetes. It takes long time to heal. I have to keep my nail short to avoid cut on her. I have to change her side to side position to prevent from getting more bedsores. She cannot stay in lying position for too long. Change her diaper, dressing bedsores, bathe her and change her position cause my back aches. Imagine I do it more than 6 times a day everyday. I can only go out after her lunch and medicine time but I have to rush home before 6.30pm for her dinner and medicine time. I can go out after her dinner and medicine time but I have to rush home before 9pm to change her diaper and dressing for her bedsores. STRESS! STRESS! NO FREEDOM OR TOO TIRED TO DO WHAT I WANT! I feel want to scream and cry but I couldn't. I have to tell myself to be tolerant with it. At first, I find it hard to look after her as my sister, Juli is no longer here to help me to change her diaper or bathe her as she is married and now she is living with her in-laws. Few months later, I used to it. My mother is also very tired as she has to cook for family and do housework plus looking after my niece, Tina. I look after Tina in morning while mother cooks. Sometimes mother and I go out for relax or walk for a short while.
By looking at my grandma, I don't wish to be like her staying at home watching television and sleep all most of time with no exercise. Now she is suffering from TB, dementia, diabetes and joints aches (stiff and cannot bend). Now you know it is very high price (hospitals, checkups transport; ambulance bills) for being lazy or never exercise. Even I told my parents that they must go for exercise in order to keep fit and healthy.
Readers, do not be lazy, learn to love exercise for your health's sake. Do try yoga, pilates, jog, run and sports like football, tennis, etc... as long as it makes your heart beats and make your muscles and bones stronger. Those who smoke, please stop smoking! I hate the smell of smoke from cigarette. I hate smokers!!! Otherwise you will have to pay a high price for it.
